Did you know you have a 24-7 spiritual support network?

When we are on this earth, we have multiple forms of support. We’re all familiar with our nuclear family (brothers, sisters, parents), our extended families (cousins, aunts, uncles, grandparents), our friends, our co-workers, our colleagues, neighbors, employers, religious authorities, and so on and so forth. But did you know you also have a support team made of spirits who have no other job except to be at your shoulder?

Your spirit guides are beings of love and light who are enlightened enough to function as guides. They differ from angels because spirit guides have had human incarnations, whereas angels are messengers who may take human form in order to get their jobs done. Spirit guides don’t do the work for you, and they don’t give you specific instructions for what to do – but they are exceptional at providing support, sharing experience, and inspiring you. You may have anywhere between 3 to 40 guides at any one time. These spiritual agents help us get through the most difficult times in our lives, as well as encouraging us to take care of ourselves and to have fun.

The 411 on Spirit Guides

I have often heard this complaint from people; “I’m trying to contact my spirit guide, but I never seem to get anywhere.”

It’s not usually followed by “I don’t know what I’m doing wrong”, it’s usually just frustration and annoyance. Are you one of these people who is actively trying to connect to spiritual guidance in your life? First, congratulations! The number of people who are looking at spiritual guidance is growing every day, and it’s okay to be in that shallow water where you’re not sure WHAT you’re looking for, but you know you feel something out there.

Second, consider all the things you’ve been doing in attempt to contact your spirit guide. Have you been meditating? Consulting oracles, like runes, tarot cards or tea leaves? How about trying affirmations and visualizations where you’re meeting and conversing your guide? Are you among those who repeatedly try opening your third eye chakra in meditation?

Things still not clicking quite yet?

Here’s a little secret. Your guides have ALREADY been talking to you. That’s right! They’ve been trying to subtly guide you in the right direction your whole life.  Let’s revisit what exactly a spirit guide is, just so we’re all on the same page.

A spirit guide is, well, a guide without a body. Some people call them guardian angels, others call them imaginary friends. Different cultures, different people all believe we have different amounts; some say we only have one, others say we have access to dozens. Here’s what I know. It doesn’t matter what specific title you use to refer to them, but everyone has one that follows them from birth to the afterlife. If you believe in past lives, they’re with you between lives and help you plan out your next one, and they’re there to escort you back to spirit when the time is ready.

So, if you’ve been trying all the different methods I listed before, and feel like you haven’t gotten any response, it’s because you’ve been trying too hard. Your spirit guide has been with you your whole life; they are your closest friends because they have seen you when you are at your worst, and they made the commitment to stay with you through this life. Don’t be afraid of them, and don’t try so hard to look for them. They’re right there beside you, just like they have been.

If you’re in this position, try taking a break for a few days from all the psychic workouts. Relax; practice meditation as an art of inner stillness and a way to help you access the spiritual. This will help you filter out the daily and mundane and before you know it, you’ll be able to distinguish their voices. They WANT to talk to you, but they speak quietly, so ask simple questions, and listen for a reply. Trust me, you’ll get one.

Hello, WordPress

Hello, world. I know I have an intro post that WordPress set me up with, but frankly, I like to do things my own way. Plus I like to talk. And talking about things I know, like myself, for instance, makes me feel more comfortable in a new environment. Once I establish some extended information about me, I can say ‘see previous entries for more info’ and continue onto my real stuff for whatever I’m working on. So… here goes.

My name isn’t Constantine – it’s Jessica. I used to roleplay a lot, and my favorite character was always Constantine St. John. Unfortunately the site she was on got deleted because of some Invisionfree screwup. Sad story, because it was a huge site I put together with a few of my closest online friends. I loved to revisit it occasionally to remind myself of what it was like to be able to spend literally every day writing fiction and having a blast. And the numbers 319… well, I happen to like them.

This is Neville. She says hi.

I’m 20 years old right now. I’m living in a cheap apartment with my amazing boyfriend and adorable, insufferable kitten, Neville. (We thought she was a he… but found out she was actually a she after she had already learned her name.) There’s always some sort of chore to do, but I love it; I love having full responsibility for my environment and being able to clean up or move things around whenever I want.

I’m not in school right now. I was for a while. I graduated in spring of ’08. I had surgery that fall and then started taking gen eds at a local community college the next spring, shortly after landing my first job as a cashier at a grocery store. Then I met my boyfriend. We had an amazing summer before I tried going back to school that fall for a graphics communication program. I got really sick in October and had to drop out because the teachers were uncooperative. (Nevermind the worst flu season in the last hundred years or so… They had their policies, you know. No one deserves special treatment.) I took the hint – after struggling in high school – that maybe organized school wasn’t for me right then.

I have recently quit the aforementioned grocery store and begun work at a local advertising agency. I work in the interactive department alongside the web developers and programmers. I don’t have any formal knowledge so I’m basically filling in and doing boring legwork for a lot cheaper, which is fine with me, because they pay a lot better than Walmart did.

The big reason I’m here, though, is because I want to write about metaphysical topics. New age has been a comforting thing for me to find in these last few years, and I’ve learned a lot. I want to share what I know, reach out to others my age who may have been struggling like I did, and hopefully learn from some more people in the process. I also want to build a retreat center in a big old house (or a couple of big houses, I’m not picky) out in nature and teach people how to live better, and more in tune with themselves. I feel that this may be my life purpose, or one of them.

Me and the Light Card from John Holland's Psychic Oracle Tarot Deck.

My experiences, so far, are with tarot cards, pendulums, chakras, meditation, essential oils, and spirit guides. I am slowly getting into oracle cards, mediumship, and… well, everything else. One of these days I’ll post a list of books I have. I’d love to have the time to do for all of them… perhaps I’ll find time to do about half. That’s difficult because, well, I’m always getting new books. It’s my extremely unhealthy stress release. But I like the way a room feels if you find bookshelves full of books.

I work mostly with the Legacy of the Divine tarot deck by Ciro Marchetti at this time. I learned how to read with his deck, the Gilded Tarot. I also have a copy of Shadowscapes and The Golden Tarot by Kat Black, I believe. I have the Psychic Oracle Tarot deck by John Holland and Colette Baron-Reid’s Wisdom of the Hidden Realms Oracle Cards. I have two pendulums, a fluorite one and an amethyst one. I love them both dearly.
